A transport driver involved in a fatal collision that killed a mother and her twin teenage sons on Highway 69 more than two years ago has been ordered to stand trial on three counts of criminal negligence causing death.

BY KEITH LACEY A man who is the focus of a dangerous offender hearing lashed out in anger at his lawyer and could be heard uttering profanities for more than 10 minutes before the Crown concluded evidence against him Thursday.

Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the location of Jennifer Burke. Burke was last seen Sept. 2 at approximately 10 pm at a family member’s residence located at 286 Jean St. in Sudbury.

Thanks to a donation of a $52,000 portable X-ray unit from the Canadian Air Transport Security Department (CATSA), the Greater Sudbury Police Service's two police explosive technicians will have a much easier time completing their duties.

It’s been almost one year since Daphne Kochar went missing and almost six months since Greater Sudbury Police confirmed she was murdered. Police still have not made an arrest in the high-profile case.

To increase officer safety, the Greater Sudbury Police Service will start using blue lights on top of cruisers, along with "cherry tops" or red lights.

Two people were killed and another two, including a Greater Sudbury woman, are listed in serious condition in a Sudbury hospital following a head-on crash Sept. 19 around 7:30 am on Hwy. 17, one kilometre east of Narin Centre.

Greater Sudbury Police have made a second arrest in connection to a Sept. 9 incident on Tedman Ave. in which a 46-year-old man was stabbed in the neck, suffering a punctured cartoid artery.
