The Sudbury man charged in connection with the shooting at the Park Hotel 10 days ago has been released on bail. Joseph Hallam, 60, is charged with attempted murder and numerous weapon charges.

BY KEITH LACEY About 20 cruisers and more than 30 officers from Greater Sudbury Police, including the tactical unit, surrounded a Flour Mill hotel around noon Wednesday after several neighbours heard gun shots.

A 35-year-old Sudbury woman is facing fraud charges after obtaining a $150,000 mortgage by issuing false documentation, which the mortgage broker believed to be authentic.

With the help of the K-9 unit, Greater Sudbury Police made a pair of arrests and seized $7,143 worth illicit drugs in the King St. area May 1.

BY HEIDI ULRICHSEN A group of Laurentian University behavioural neuroscience students locked out the institution’s animal research facility have filed a $30.2 million lawsuit against the university.

As a result of several complaints from school bus drivers in regards to motorists who don't stop for the flashing red lights, especially along Hwy. 144 in Chelmsford, the Sudbury detachment of the OPP increased their patrols in the area.

Two Chelmsford men were arrested early Tuesday morning, suspected of attempting to break into a local business. Police received a tip from a citizen about a couple of people prowling through backyards on Charette St. in Chelmsford.
