BY KEITH LACEY [email protected] A young man from Newfoundland who threatened to stab a Wal-Mart security guard with a hyperdermic needle after stealing items was given a 23-month jail sentence Friday.

Fire causes $1,500 damage

Damage from a Tuesday morning fire at Northeastern Elementary School is estimated at $1,500, says Greater Sudbury Fire Services. The damage is limited to insulation around a pipe in the boiler room, which caught fire because of heat from the boiler.
