A coroner's inquest into the death of a 47-year-old miner in May 2006 is underway this week at the Sudbury Court House. Ray Campeau was working on a shaft-sinking project at the Podolsky Mine, northeast of Sudbury when the accident happened.

Evading taxes costs pair

Two Greater Sudbury area residents have been charged as a result of failing to file their tax returns, the Sudbury Tax Services Office announced. Matteo Malerba of Sudbury was fined a total of $4,000 and given 12 months to pay.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) has received notification that someone in the Sudbury area is calling local residents and seeking cash donations for the Banque d’aliments Sudbury Food Bank.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service responded to a break and enter in progress on Mable St. at approx. 1:20 p.m. on April 17. The suspect entered the house but ran out when he realized the occupant was present.

The Public’s assistance is requested in locating three missing youth. Ashley Dokis Recollet, 14, has been missing since April 13. She was last seen in the Little Current area but is believed to be in Sudbury.

Drugs confiscated in Minnow Lake

A drug investigation conducted by the Greater Sudbury Police Service led them to the Minnow Lake area where a search warrant was executed. Police seized 84 grams of marijuana, valued at $1,500, and $2,050 of Canadian Currency.
