Carmela Wishlow captured this poignant image of a young boy passing a butterfly from his finger to her husband’s at the Maison McCulloch Hospice annual butterfly release event on Aug. 20. She felt the image perfectly captures the spirit of the event.

“Yesterday at the Annual Monarch Butterfly release for the hospice, I captured an amazing moment,” Wishlow wrote to us. “A little boy had a butterfly on his finger and he wanted to let the butterfly crawl onto my husband's finger so he could leave. The moment was so special and beautiful to see and to capture it as well was a great success.”
