After a thrilling home opener on Friday night at home that saw the Sudbury Wolves come from behind to beat the Oshawa Generals, the Pack had a tough time against Mississauga in the team’s second game of the season.

The team travelled down south to take on the Steelheads on Sunday afternoon, losing the contest 6-1, in a game that was all Mississauga, all the time.

Mississauga’s Michael Little scored just six minutes into the first period to give the Steelheads the early lead. The Wolves managed to hold the Steelheads to that single marker in the first, even doing an admirable job of killing of a five-minute major after Michael Pezzetta the penalty and a game misconduct for a check to the head.

The second period didn’t go so well though. Mississauga scored three unanswered goals before the 10-minute mark to extend their lead to 4-0. The Wolves’ Reagan O’Grady put the Pack on the board just passed the halfway point when the puck bounced off his skate an into the Steelheads’ net.

The Wolves were outgunned almost two-to-one by the point, with Mississauga taking 29 shots on goal compared to Sudbury’s 14.

Early in the third, the Pack found itself two men down after getting into penalty trouble, and giving up another goal as the Steelheads capitalized on their two-man advantage.

The Wolves’ Zach Wilkie went toe-to-toe Brandon Yeamans in the third, and Mississauga scored their sixth and final goal soon afterward.

Final shots on goal were 44–25 in favour of the Steelheads. On the powerplay, the Wolves went 0-for-5 to the Steelheads’ 2-for-6.

The Pack hosts the Barrie Colts on Friday night at 7 p.m. Tickets are on-sale now at the Sudbury Arena Box Office, by calling 705-671-3000 or online here.
