Aigles, Requins victorious at  Franco-Ontarian Hockey Tournament

Teams face off against tough competition in Cambridge

The boys hockey team from École secondaire catholique Champlain in Chelmsford was on fire at the same tournament, being crowned champions in the small school division.

The Aigles from École secondaire catholique l’Horizon captured the AA division of the boys Franco-Ontarian Hockey Tournament held in Cambridge April 3-6.

With a solid roster of 16 dedicated players, Horizon finished first among the 16 teams in the AA Division following the preliminary round of play.

Following a well-earned victory against École Le Relais from Alexandria in the semifinals, Horizon faced École secondaire de Pain Court in the AA division finals. 
Pain Court started strongly and held a 2-1 lead after two periods of play. 

The Horizon squad displayed grit and determination by scoring four consecutive goals in the third period, said a news release.

The 5-2 victory enabled the ESC l’Horizon team to earn its second Franco-Ontarian Hockey title in six years.

“Congratulations to a great and determined group of players and to dedicated coaches,” said the news release.

The team’s success was made possible through the outstanding performance of all players: Grade 12 members Brandyn Crossman, Patrick Fortin, Zachary Peterson, Joshua Robichaud, Patrick Valiquette; Grade 11 members Patrick Coursol, Tyler Roy; Grade 10 members Brennan Charbonneau, Logan Dozzi, Matthieu Gaudet, Patrick Langis; and Grade 9 members Deric Charbonneau, Jack Cormier, Nicholas Coursol, Joël Robillard and Ethan Young. 

“The school congratulates and appreciates the contributions of the coach Mr. Rob Coursol and trainer Mr. Luc Lalonde,” said the news release.
