The Sudbury Five are joining forces with the YMCA to run a weekly fall academy training session for boys and girls ages eight to 13.

The six-week academy, powered by Panoramic Properties, begins Thursday, Sept. 24 and concludes Thursday, Oct. 29

The sessions will focus on improving basketball skills in a small focused group setting.

Participants will learn from Sudbury Five coaches, including head coach Logan Stutz, as well as Five players.

“Basketball is back,” said Stutz. “I can’t wait to see the kids on the court, as well as to be back on the court again myself. We will be in compliance with all health and safety protocols, and still create a very fun learning environment for all the kids in the academy.”

“The YMCA is excited to further grow our partnership with the SWSE group, specifically the Sudbury Five, in hosting their fall academy next month,” said Helen Francis, president and CEO, YMCA Northeastern Ontario.

Session 1 will take place from 5-6 p.m., while session 2 will run from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Participants will have the option to sign up for either session, however, siblings and bubble families must sign up for the same session. There are limited spaces available and the Sudbury Five and YMCA will be following all public health regulations including increased sanitization, temperature checks and screenings.

The cost to register is $145 plus HST per participant.
