Sudbury's Todd Bertuzzi met with NHL officials Tuesday to discuss the possibility of reinstatement after his indefinite suspension resulting from an on-ice attack of Colorado Avalanche winger Steve Moore back in March of 2004.

Bertuzzi, Moore, The Canucks organization and the NHL Players' Association all participated in the seven-hour hearing in New York City.

League officials have deferred the matter until a later date.

Bertuzzi was suspended for the final 13 regular season games, along with seven playoff games. He lost just over $500,000 US of his $6.8 million 2004-05 salary. The Canucks were also fined $250,000.

The suspension also kept Bertuzzi from playing on Team Canada in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2005 World Hockey Championship.

Bertuzzi pled guilty to assault causing bodily harm in December 2004, and received a conditional discharge. Moore has filed a civil suit against Bertuzzi and the Canucks.
