The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey Association is pleased to announce the winner of the NOJHA Scholastic Player of the Year is Daniel Lafontaine of the Sturgeon Falls Lynx.

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey Association is pleased to announce the winner of the NOJHA Scholastic Player of the Year is Daniel Lafontaine of the Sturgeon Falls Lynx.

Lafontaine received the Royal Bank Junior Â?AÂ? Scholarship Award and will now be entered in the Canadian Junior Hockey Scholastic Player of the Year Award to be announced at the Royal Bank Cup.

Lafontaine, a defenseman with the Sturgeon Falls Lynx this past season, started his career with the Iroquois Falls Junior Â?AÂ? Eskis playing two seasons, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001, before moving on to the Lynx.

Lafontaine attends Northern College and is enrolled in the Police Foundations Program. He will pursue a criminology degree in the fall and plans to apply to the Ontario Provincial Police.
