The defending Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League champion Greater Sudbury Cubs begin their 2024-25 playoff journey on March 20 against the Iroquois Falls Storm.
And the first game of the quarter-final series will be played at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in the city’s South End.
Game time Thursday is 7 p.m.
The Cubs had yet another stellar season in the NOJHL. The team quickly rocketed to first place in September and never really looked back. Among the impressive stats they accumulated along the way is a win streak of 20 games.
The team was regularly ranked among the top 10 and top 20 by the Canadian Junior Hockey League. And Cubs’ star Lucas Signoretti, who ages out of the league after this season, led the NOJHL in points pretty much all season long, amassing 101 points over 50 games.
His teammate, Samuel Assinewai, was also the second-leading scorer in the league for much of the season.
The series against Iroquois Falls continues on Friday, also in Sudbury, with the puck dropping at 7 p.m.
Games Three and Four will be played March 24 and March 25 at the Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.
If necessary, the fifth game will be played Thursday in Sudbury at 7 p.m., while the sixth game would go on Sunday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Iroquois Falls.
And finally if a seventh, deciding game needs to be played, it would happen Tuesday, April 1 at T.M. Davies Community Centre (Walden Arena) at 7 p.m.
All NOJHL playoff contests will be streamed live, and on demand, via FLOHockey.tv, the league’s official broadcast partner.
