The Sudbury Cyclones have announced that the women’s ’A’ team will compete in League1 Ontario’s League2 Division for the 2025 season.
“After establishing our foothold in the League1 Ontario community on the men’s side, we were determined to create equal opportunities on the women’s side, said Dayna Corelli, general manager of the Sudbury Cyclones, in a news release. “This team represents more than just a place in League2 — it’s about providing a clear player pathway for young women and creating mentors for generations of girls to come.”
The women competed in the Ontario Women’s Soccer League (OWSL) during its inaugural season. Calling the move to League1 an “exciting development”, the team said in a news release the Cyclones' mission is to provide a transformative platform for women and girls to pursue their soccer dreams.
After competing in the Ontario Soccer League last year, the Cyclones also revealed that the U21 men’s team will also compete in the League2 Division this season.
“The Cyclones are dedicated to growing soccer in Northern Ontario and paving the way for local male and female athletes,” the team said in the release.
