While March break usually means sleeping in and hanging out with friends, the Company G performing group will be kicking up their heels on the high seas aboard a Florida-based cruise ship.

The group, the official performing troupe of the Company G Dance Academy, responded to an invitation to submit an audition tape for a 30-minute gig on the Majestic of the Sea luxury liner. They were Â?delightedÂ? when they found out their tape was accepted and they were chosen to perform, says dance academy owner and director Carole Lafontaine.

Â?ItÂ?s a lifetime dream for performers to perform in a situation like this,Â? Lafontaine says. Â?Everybody is very excited about it.Â?

They only perform one show but the group gets to spend the entire week on the ship. The 12 singers and dancers range in age from 11 to 17 and theyÂ?ve been performing with the group for about four years.

Although itÂ?s still a fairly new group, this isnÂ?t the first competition they've entered. Last year they competed in the Â?Rising StarÂ? tryouts at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. They didnÂ?t win but made it to the final round.

Aside from rehearsing, the group needs to spend some time fundraising to offset the cost of the trip. TheyÂ?re also looking for sponsors and support from the community.
