David Bowen headed to the QMJHL

Former Wolves and Rayside Balfour goalie will suit up for the Drummondville Voltigeurs

The Rayside Balfour Jr. A Canadians announced Wednesday that veteran goaltender David Bowen has been released to the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league.

Rayside is the Jr. A affiliate of the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League.

Bowen, 19, is among the league-leaders in goaltenders and has back-stopped the young Canadians Jr. A team to second-place in the Western Division of the NOJHL so far this season.

This season Bowen has a record of 9-4-0, a SV% of 0.915 and 2.94 goals against average.

"We are extremely proud of David and we want to wish him the best of luck in Drummondville" said Rayside GM Jeff Forsyth.

"David was such an important part of our team this season. However, one of our organizational goals is to develop young men for the next level of hockey and that is exactly what is happening in this case. We want to wish David the best of success in Drummondville as he continues his career at the CHL level."

Forsyth begins his search for a replacement for Bowen between the pipes. Nicholas Heinzle, 17, has played extremely well for Rayside in his inaugural season in the NOJHL and will get the start in goal this Friday when Rayside travels to Soo Michigan to play the Eagles
