When the Sudbury Five takes to the court at Sudbury Arena tonight to play their inaugural home game, they will be doing in front of a sold-out crowd of thousands.

“The response from the community has been nothing short of amazing,” said Head Coach and General Manager Logan Stutz in a news release. “After hearing the buzz in the community and seeing all the encouragement on social media, we couldn’t be any more excited.”

Coming of a two-game win streak, the Five squares up against the London Lightning tonight, who are the defending NBL champions.

Fans who missed out on the opportunity to purchase tickets to the team’s inaugural game will have a chance to see the Five back in action eight times in December for what the team is calling the “Eight Days of Christmas.”

The team travels to Windsor next Wednesday to take on the Express before returning home on Dec. 1 for another game against the Express, followed by a Dec. 6 match the Saint John's Riptide. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.

You can watch Thursday’s inaugural game on Eastlink TV on Channel 10 or in HD on Channel 610.
