The Sudbury FIVE are set for a flurry of games this week leading into the holiday break.

The National Basketball League of Canada expansion franchise will begin the week with back-to-back games in Newfoundland against the Saint John’s Edge this Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Edge have been one of the hottest teams in the league, winning their last three games. Last week, the Edge also signed NBA Champion Glen Davis, adding to the team’s already impressive roster.

This week, the Five will be looking to build off their commanding victory against the Halifax Hurricanes Sunday afternoon. League leading scorer Braylon Rayson will look to continue his dominance after scoring a game high 34 points Sunday.

The Five will be without guard Jaylen Bland after he suffered a lower body injury in Saturday’s contest with the London Lightning. The Saginaw, MI native currently leads the league in three-pointers scored.

The Five will then return to the confines of the Sudbury Arena for a rare Friday night contest as they host the Island Storm at 7:05 p.m. This will be the Storm’s one and only appearance to the Nickel City this season.

The Storm are led by forward Sampson Carter, who currently sits second in the league for points per game, bested only by the Five’s Braylon Rayson.

Sunday, the Five hit the road to play their final game before the holiday break with an afternoon showdown against the KW Titans. The Five have defeated the Titans in both matchups this season and will look to add to their Central Division lead on Sunday.

Tickets for Friday’s home game can be purchased online at thefive.ca or in person at the Sudbury Arena Box Office.
