With their Nov. 23 home opener fast approaching, the Sudbury Five have announced the signing of a couple of players.
Last week, the team announced Duane Notice would be back with the team for another season. And on Oct. 7, the Five announced that they’ve signed 6-3 guard Charlie Marquardt to the team for one season.
Mark your calendars for the home opener on Saturday, Nov. 23 against the Montreal Toundra.
The Five’s home schedule will see nine Saturday games, three on Sundays, three on Fridays, and two on Mondays. Evening games will tip off at 7 p.m., while Sunday games will have a 2:05 p.m. start.
The team said it was “delighted” to welcome Notice back to the fold. It will be his third season with the Five for the 6-3 guard from Woodbridge.
Notice played 36 games last season, averaging 13.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
“Back in the Nickel, 3rd times the charm,” he said in a press release. “Appreciate the Sudbury community for all the support and I’m excited to return the love by playing hard and completing to bring home that chip. Can’t wait to see y’all out there cheering us on. Let’s go Five.”
The Five also announce the signing of Charlie Marquardt, a 6-3 guard from the Long Island Nets of the G-League. He has committed to Sudbury for the 2024-25 season.
“I can’t wait to get to work in Sudbury!” said Marquardt in a news release. “I am excited to play for Coach (Logan) Stutz and do everything I can to win a championship for the Five! I am really excited to play in front of the best fan base in the BSL and in Canada. Can’t wait to see and meet the fans.”
Marquardt hails from Rockaway Beach, New York. He’s played in the NCAA, internationally and in the G-League. At the conclusion of the Sudbury Five’s 2024-25 season, Marquardt will join the Frederick Flying Cows of the TBL.
