Four Greater Sudbury curling rinks headed to Northern Ontario seniors' championships

The Northern Ontario Curling Association's (NOCA) Senior Provincial Curling Championships get underway in Thunder Bay today (Jan. 16).

Greater Sudbury will be well represented at the championships, with four rinks taking to the sheets at the Port Arthur Curling Club. 

All four of the Sudbury area rinks will be on the men's side of the competition.

Roger Sauve will skip the Coniston Curling Club rink, which is filled out with Jean Sauve (vice), Dan Sauve (second) and Claude Gosselin (lead).

The Curl Sudbury rink will be skipped by Robbie Gordon, who will be joined on the ice by Ron Henderson (vice) Dion Dumontelle (second) and Doug Hong (lead).

Copper Cliff Curling Club will also be represented at the championships, with skip Chris Gordon leading a rink comprised of Alastair Giles (vice), Tim Loyd (second) and Craig Ramsay (lead).

Finally, Idylewylde Curling Club will round out Sudbury contingent at the championships, skipped by Patrick Chartier who will be joined by Rick Schmidt (vice), Chris Jillings (second) and Steve Garrett (lead).

The Sudbury rinks will compete with four other rinks on the men's side, with representatives from Thunder Bay, Keewatin, Fort William and Timmins.

Three women's rinks will battle for the title with rinks from Kenora, Keewatin and Fort Frances hitting the ice.
