Eight members of the Top Glove Boxing Academy competed at the Intermediate and Senior National Boxing Championships over the weekend with two boxers advancing to the senior nationals.

Jamie-Lea Pollock (125 lbs.) won the women?s featherweight championship beating a boxer from Belleville in the final. The win advances Pollock to the Intermediate Female National Championships in St. Catharines in February. This was the Sudbury teenager?s first appearance at an open provincial championship.

Alain Prevost took home a gold medal without having to fight as the 16-year-old reigning Canadian and provincial champion went unchallenged in the heavyweight division.

Prevost has advanced to the Canada Winter Games in New Brunswick in the spring of 2004. Prevost won the national title last year as a junior in the light-heavyweight division.

Todd Provincial won bronze in the intermediate, 132-pound division, Ryan Ranelli took bronze in the intermediate, 125-pound division, while Kyle Gauthier took bronze in the super-heavyweight senior division.
