Kevin MartinÂ?s team from Edmonton is the 2003 Masters of Curling champion and is $25,000 richer.

The team won 8-7 over Vic Peters team from Winnipeg in the finals Sunday night at the T. M. Davies Arena in Lively.

The Martin rink includes members Don Walchuk, Carter Rycroft, and Don Bartlett.

The Martin rink won a Olympic Silver medal in 2002 and have won more than $500,00 over last five seasons.

During the successful curling weekend in Lively, one of the rocks was stolen.

The rock belongs to the company that looks after installing ice for the curling championships. There are 80 rocks used for competitions and they come in matched sets of 16, explains David Carves, chair of the volunteer committee organizing the Grand Slam of Curling evening.

Sets of rocks cost about $24,000.

Event organizers ask that the person or persons who took the rock return it, no questions asked.

People with information should phone Crime Stoppers at 675-8477.
The rock is needed for the next competition in Saskatchewan in early February.
