Greater Sudbury Cubs have suspended all team activities after a player tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, a number of games have been postponed. Two of those scheduled games have passed; however, games on Dec. 9 and Dec. 11 are being rescheduled. Additional games are being reviewed.

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, as well as Public Health Sudbury & Districts, is requiring all those identified as close contacts in a case of COVID-19, as someone who was fully immunized, to seek testing and self-isolate regardless of their own immunization status.

The player affected is currently asymptomatic or exhibiting mild symptoms and the league and team will continue to monitor his well-being.

The NOJHL had previously incorporated specific COVID-19 protocols including mandatory vaccination for all members of the NOJHL community including players, staff, officials and billets.

The NOJHL is working in consultation with the league’s independent Chief Medical Officer while the Cubs continue to follow the guidance of Public Health Sudbury & Districts.

The NOJHL will not be identifying affected individual(s), but will provide an update regarding future games along with the rescheduling of above matchups as information becomes available.
