The Sacré-Cœur Griffons competed for the first time ever at a futsal tournament for Sudbury district schools on April 1.
The tournament attracted seven boys teams and nine girls teams, and École secondaire du Sacré-Cœur finished near the top in both divisions.
The boys team put together a solid tournament and were helped by some strong play in goal from Zachary Ducharme. The boys finished second in the seven team field.
The girls also got a solid tournament out of their goalkeeper Kara Breault O’Brien, en route to a fourth place finish.
Futsal is a modified version of soccer where teams play with five players aside. The game is also played with a smaller, less-bouncy ball, putting more focus on ball handling and creative passing.
