Greater Sudbury Soccer Club (GSSC) will become the first soccer association in Northern Ontario to be given bronze certification this Saturday, Aug. 19.

Club President Joe Snofl will be joined by Mayor Brian Bigger and Susan Belli, along with players and parents for the 2017 Fabio Belli Memorial Soccer Festival at the Howard Armstrong Soccer Fields in Hanmer at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday for the presentation.

"The Greater Sudbury Soccer Club is proud to be the only Northern Ontario soccer club to have achieved this recognition," said a GSSC news release.

"The Club Excellence Award program was established in 2007 and has grown into an acclaimed, province-wide recognition program for effectively-run community-based soccer clubs, which offer safe, healthy and enjoyable environments for all involved."

Fabio Belli loved the camaraderie and the wonderful life lessons that sports provided. This festival, named in his honour, is meant to engage our youth and bring them together for a fun filled day of soccer and friendship.
