Guess what? The Pond Hockey Festival is a go for 2018 (as long as the cold holds out)

Formerly held near Science North, the celebration of outdoor hockey finds a new home near the Northern Water Sports Centre

Did you miss the Pond Hockey Festival on the Rock because of weather last year?

Both the forecast and the festival itself promise to bring winter fun to Sudbury in 2018, with the ninth annual charitable event happening Feb 2-4.

In 2017, unseasonably mild temperatures in January forced the relocation of the event. Organizers are hoping this year will be different and, so far, the weather has been co-operating.

Pond Hockey on the Rock sees approximately 92 teams compete during the day and into the night in 3-on-3 play. There will be 10 rinks on Ramsey Lake.

The event was formerly held on the lake near Science North. This year, the event is still on Ramsey, but will be held in a different bay, in front of the Northern Water Sports Centre.

Participants are asked to park at the York Street lot, where a shuttle will ferry them to the festival location.

YES Theatre, which develops the artistic expression of Sudbury youth through its stage performances, and Camp Quality, which provides empowering summer camp experiences for children living with cancer, have been named as this year's fundraising recipients

Registration for teams in any of 12 divisions closes on January 29th and can be completed online at PondHockeyontheRock.com or via phone by calling (705) 521-3842.
