GymZone Family Fitness Centre, Home of the Sudbury Laurels, will be hosting the 2008 Raise the Bar Gym Challenge, their annual Provincial Invitational on Saturday, April 12 (8:30 am to 9 pm) and Sunday, April 13 ( 9 am to 3 pm) at the GymZone Family Fitness Centre.
Teams from all over the province, including the Rankin
Inlet, Nunavut Gymnastics team, will be competing and
showcasing their gymnastic skills.  As well, teams from
Sudbury, Greater Toronto Area, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, Parry
Sound and North Bay will be attending.
  
It is with great anticipation that Lisa Kivinen, Director of
GymZone/Sudbury Laurels welcomes the team from the territory of
Nunavut. 
"We are very proud and excited that they have chosen Sudbury as there out of town meet this year," Kivinen said in a news release.
Some of the Sudbury Laurels top provincial athletes will be competing and performing throughout the event, including provincial silver medalist Tatum Hurley, Ontario Tour Team member Alicia Violin and OFSAA medalist Megan Howard.
Girls, ages 7 and up, will be competing on balance beam, floor exercise, uneven bars, tumbling and vault.  The boys, ages 7 and up, will be competing on parallel bars, pommel horse, rings, high bar, vault and floor exercise.
GymZone Family Fitness Centre is the Home of the Sudbury Laurels Gymnastics Club, the competitive arm of the gymnastics club.  The Club is now located in New Sudbury, the Valley and Espanola.
