They?re No. 1 in Sudbury. New Sudbury Hurricanes defeated Lockerby Mustangs 21-0 in the Joe MacDonald Youth Football league finals.
The Hurricanes completely dominated the Lockerby Mustangs in a 21 to 0 rout.

Lockerby was the only team to defeat the Hurricanes this year, but its high scoring offence was no match for the powerful number one defence in the
league.

Head coach Roger Sauve said he was elated after his second consecutive championship.

"Every player had his and her best game of the year, I am extremely proud of the kids and how they played."

In the consolation final, the Lo-Ellen Park Raiders defeated the Central City Blue Devils 28-0.

In the Sid Forster Tyke Division the Central City Demons toped the Lo-Ellen Park Pirates 14-0 to take the championship. The consolation final was won by the New Sudbury Storm over the Lockerby Colts by a score of 28-16.

The Joe MacDonald Football league was started by longtime Sudbury Spartan coach, the late Sid Forster.

Spartan and Kinsmen Football League graduates carry on the task of running the league. A great deal of praise has to go to president Dr. Michael Staffen and his many volunteers. A special vote of thanks to Graham Edwards and his officiating crew for putting up with parents and fans. A special tip of the hat to the coaches who give up many hours to mold young people and teach them sportsmanship.

New Sudbury Hurricane players are: 4-Jessica Price, 7-Mark Ceccolini, 4 Patrick Regan, 16-Luc Richer,

22-Michael Dwyer, 24-Matthew Clark, 42-Steven Taylor, 44-Patrick Sauve, 50-Brian Lamothe, 54 Matthew Dumont, 55-Ryan Weist, 60-Thomas Davidson, 65-Daniel Dwyer, 75-Troy Bertrand, 80-Kristopher Prieur, 88-Matthew Dwyer.
