The Sudbury Five have announced that Ja’Myrin “JJ” Jackson has re-signed with the team for the 2024-25 season.

"Ja'myrin has grown as a player since we acquired him in a trade with Windsor,” said GM and Head Coach Logan Stutz. “He got a new start in Sudbury and has made the most of it. I am excited to have him back and continue to help him grow and elevate his game so he  can achieve the goals he has for the future."

A 6-4 shooting guard from Lansing, Michigan, Jacksokn came to Sudbury following a trade with the Windsor Express in February. Prior to his time in Windsor, Jackson played for Lansing Community College, Flint United and the Lansing Pharaohs of The Basketball League (TBL).

“During the 2023 season with the Express, he led the league in three-pointers made (80) and was named NBL Canada Player of the Week twice,” the team said in a news release. “On May 10, 2023, he was honored as one of the league’s most  versatile players, receiving the NBL Canada Sixth Man of the Year award.”

In the 23 games he played last season, Jackson averaged 19 points per game while shooting 46.1 per cent from the field, 39.6 per cent from beyond the arc, and 89 per cent from the free-throw line.
