The Toronto Blue Jays struck out with some fans at the home opener yesterday.

Fans waiting in line to pick up complimentary tickets left by team owner Rogers Communications, as well as Jays staff and others, missed the first two innings of the game.

Although all ticket windows were open, a larger-than-expected crowd of approximately 1,200 people swarmed around Gate 9, which resulted in a very long line and frayed tempers.

Blue Jays management promised to give complimentary tickets for a game in April or May to the fans who were forced to miss part of the game.

Inside the SkyDome, the Jays gave fans what they came to see - a home opener win of 7-2 over the Minnesota Twins.
