Sudbury Wolves forward Dominik Kahun will play for Team Germany at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The championships take place Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 in Ufa, Russia.

Kahun, who stands 5-10, was selected by the Sudbury Wolves 39th overall in the first round of the 2012 CHL import draft. He has been among the top rookie scorers in the OHL this season and currently sits four points out of second place.

Kahun has been one of the pleasant surprises for the Sudbury Wolves so far this season, the team said in a news release.

“We are very excited for Dominik and we wish him the best of luck at the World Jr Championships,” said Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith. “Dominik will enjoy the challenge of competing against the very best junior-aged hockey players in the world, at only 17 years of age. Dominik helped the Sudbury Wolves win gold in Russia back in August, so I’m sure he will be a very effective player for Team Germany in his return visit to Russia.”

Wolves’ fans can follow Kahun and Team Germany and Team Canada at hockeycanada.ca.

Kahun and Team Germany will play their first game of the World Jr. Championships on Dec. 26 vs. Team Canada at 4:30 p.m. EST.
