Starting on Thursday November 7th a new concept in curling similar to golf's Ryder Cup will be played at the Regina Agridome Six teams from North America will face six teams from the rest of the world for a prize package worth $200,000.
Teams will play in mixed doubles, singles, teams and skins. Points will be awarded as follows in each competition: Teams (72), Mixed Doubles (36), Singles (32) and skins (260). Teams accumulating the most points will win $125,000.
The North American teams will be captained by Rick Folk and will include the World Champion Randy Ferbey team, the Olympic silver medallist Kevin Martin, Olympic Bronze medalist Kelly Law and the 2001 World Champion Colleen Jones. Rounding out the North American team will be Patti Lank and Paul Pustovar both of the United States.
Team World is headed by Olympic Gold medalist P. Trulsen of Norway, Rhona Martin of Scotland, along with two-time World Champion Peja Lindholm and four-time World Champion Elisabet Gustafson both from Sweden. Rounding out the team will be Luzia Ebther from Switzerland and Hammy McMillan of Scotland. Kristian Soerum will act as captain.
TSN will carry most of the action starting at 10 am on Thursday, Nov. 7 and continuing to Sunday, Nov. 10th.
