Kowaluk wins Idylwylde tourney, again

He came, he saw and he let his game do the talking. For the second year in a row, Kurt Kowaluk captured the Idylwylde Men's Invitational at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club on Sunday. Kowaluk defeated Cam Hreljac 2 and 1 in the match-play final.

For the second year in a row, Kurt Kowaluk captured the Idylwylde Men's Invitational at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

Kowaluk defeated Cam Hreljac 2 and 1 in the match-play final. After 15 holes, both men were tied.

Kowaluk took over on the 16th with a par and then followed up with another par on the 17th to seal his second consecutive Idylwylde championship.

Hreljac faltered on the 16th and 17th holes, finishing with bogey scores.

Kowaluk, 23 was the low qualifier on Friday with an even par 72.

He then went on to post victories over Scott Belair, Chris Seney and five-time champion Vince Palladino in semifinal play on Sunday morning to reach the final. Kowaluk is a member at Timberwolf Golf Club.

Kowaluk will now travel to Vancouver to participate in the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship.
