The Laurentian Voyageurs men's basketball team grabbed a pair of wins over the weekend, knocking off the Western Mustangs and the Nipissing Lakers.
On Friday, the Voyageurs bested the Mustangs in a decisive 84-70 win, before cruising to a dominant 90-56 win over Nipissing on Sunday.
Staying on the court, the ladies were squaring off with the same two teams, earning a weekend split, losing Friday to Western by a score of 69-57. On Sunday, the ladies bounced back in a closely-contested 71-69 win over Nipissing.
The weekend sweep pushed the men's team to a 4-1 record, good enough for third in the OUA East Division, behind a pair of undefeated teams from Ottawa and Carleton.
The women hold a 2-3 record and sit fourth in their division.
Over on the ice, the men's and women's teams both played a pair of games with the women taking a weekend split, defeating the Brock Badgers on Friday by a score of 1-0, before dropping a 3-0 decision to the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday.
The men's team had a tough go on the weekend, dropping a pair of games to the University of Quebec Trois Rivieres by scores of 4-2 and 6-2 respectively.
It's been a rough early go for the men's hockey team, who now sit at the bottom of the OUA East Division with a record of 2-7-1-1, and have lost eight straight games.
The women are in a battle near the middle of the pack in the OUA standings, holding a 3-4 record and sitting ninth out of 13 teams.
