Laurentian athletes had a busy weekend as a number of Voyageurs teams were in action.

Both the men's and women's Voyageurs hockey teams took to the ice for exhibition play at the Countryside Arena over the wqeekend with the men taking a 3-2 win over Nipissing, while the women dropped a 4-2 decision to the Ottawa Gee Gees.

The women's soccer team got their first win of the season on Sunday, knocking off their northern rivals from Nipissing by a score of 3-1. The men's soccer team lost a closely contested 1-0 game to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in Toronto Friday night.

The Voyageurs baseball team split a double-header with McMaster on Saturday, dropping the opening game by a score of 8-7, before bouncing back in the second game with a 6-4 win.

On the links, the men's and women's golf teams both put forth strong showings in Oshawa on Thursday, Sept. 19, with the men's team finishing second and the women taking top spot.

Runners hit the trails at Western University on Saturday and Laurentians men managed to finish in eighth spot, while the women's team finished 12th.

Finally, the rough road for Laurentian's men's lacross team continued, as the team is still searching for their first win on the season.

The Voyageurs took a beating at the hands of the Western Mustangs Saturday, losing by a score of 22-3. Things didn't get much better on Sunday, as the Voyageurs fell by a score of 17-6 to the Laurier University Golden Hawks.
