Cross-country runners from Lo-Ellen Park Secondary school did Sudbury proud over the weekend, coming away with their best result in years at the OFSAA championships in Port Hope.

In a message to Sudbury.com, coach Colin Ward said the midget girls finished fourth as a team, and that the Top 10 are on the podium.

“And the junior boys were 7th,” Ward said. “These are the two best teams and showings I've ever been a part of. These are pretty big accomplishments for these kids and our running program.

“I suspect we'd have to look back more than 20 years to find a comparable OFSAA showing by a Sudbury school.”

The midget girls team includes Meredith Kusnierczyk (38th), Dylann Mazzuchin (42nd), Fiona Symington (87th), Delaney Bourget (106th) and Samantha Micelotta (168th).

The junior boys includes Augustin Marks De Chabris (31st), Connor Jermyn (69th), Lucas Mrozewski (98th), Jacob Socransky (164th) and Luca Nardi (173rd).
