Only one other boxing club from southern Ontario is sending more athletes, which is an outstanding reflection on the success of the local training centre and sets a new club record for competitors at a provincial championship.

Â?These boxers have been training very intensely. Training like champions. WeÂ?re really looking forward to the provincials and thereÂ?s a great potential for many medals,Â? says ONTC head coach Gord Apolloni.

Competing in the championships are: Andre Pelletier, Senior Light Middleweight; Chris Paulins, Senior Welterweight; Jamie Lea Pollock, Female Intermediate Bantamweight; Eric Pelletier, Senior Middleweight; Ryan Rannelli, Intermediate Bantamweight; Todd Provincial, Intermediate Lightweight; Kyle Gauthier, Senior Super Heavyweight; and 2002 Junior National Champion Alain Prevost who moves into the Intermediate Heavyweight division.

The boxing team returns on Oct. 27 to prepare for competitions in St. JohnÂ?s, Newfoundland on Nov. 2, and then Azilda on Nov. 30.
