Competing against the very best girls, of her age, in the province, Timberwolf Golf Club representative Lea Lemieux keeps finding a way to stay right in the mix of things.

Battling the elements earlier this week at the Marlwood Golf & Country Club in Wasaga Beach, Lemieux overcame a tough opening round, improving by 11 shots on day two in earning a tie for third place at the Ontario Peewee (U13) Golf Championships.

The only local in the field of just under thirty players, Lemieux followed up a round one 89 with a much better score of 78, finishing three strokes back of Alexa Ouellet (Credit Valley G & CC), with both girls left in the dust by Bridget Wilkie (Bayview G & CC), who impressed mightily with a 10-shot victory.

In fact, only Wilkie and Lemieux managed to card single-round scores under 80 at the two-day event, which came about a week or so after Lemieux again rode a hot hand in round two to earn second place at the CJGA Linkset National Championship in Kettleby, Ontario.

Lemieux entered the clubhouse with a scorecard of 88/74 (162), earning silver on retrogression, edging out Shelby Hardwick of Aurora (82/80 = 162), with Michele Xing (Richmond Hill) claiming top spot at 73/78 (151) at the CJGA competition.
