LU announces new assistant coaches

The Laurentian women?s basketball team has tapped the local well to fill two assistant coaching positions. Jim Hann and Jen Bourget join the Lady Vees program and bring extensive experience with them.
The Laurentian women?s basketball team has tapped the local well to fill two assistant coaching positions. Jim Hann and Jen Bourget join the Lady Vees program and bring extensive experience with them.

Hann has been involved in Sudbury basketball for more than 33 years. The retired teacher was the head coach for the Lasalle Secondary School boys? basketball team for 17 years.

During his reign at the helm, he guided teams to five NOSSA championships and 11 city titles.

In 1989, Hann received the OFFSA Coaches Award and was inducted into the Sudbury Kinsmen Sports Hall of Fame.

Bourget has been coaching the Lasalle Secondary School girls? basketball team for the last four years. She has guided them to three city titles, four NOSSA championships and two OFSSA bronze medals.

Bourget was at the helm of the Sudbury Lakers when they captured the Ontario Basketball Association crown in 1999.

Bourget was also the head coach of the Ontario Under-16 Provincial team in 2001 and was selected to coach at the Nike All-Canada Camp from 1997-2000. Bourget is an alumnus of the Lady Vees, having been a member of the 1991 National Championship team and of the 1992 OUA Championship team.

?I am very excited about adding two such experienced and knowledgeable coaches to our team. Having top assistants ...will greatly expand what we can offer to the players,? said head coach Mike Clarke in a news release.
