Mayor comes out swinging

Mayor Dave Courtemanche's golf game may be a bit rusty, but that doesn't mean he isn't ready to tee up interest in the second annual Mayor's Mulligan Tournament.

Sudbury Community Foundation executive director Carmen Simmons (left) and United Way president Sonia Del Missier helped Mayor David Courtemanche kick off the second annual Mayor's Mulligan golf tournament.
Last year, the event raised $37,800. The money went to the United Way and the Sudbury Community Foundation. Once again, those two charities will benefit from the proceeds raised at this year's tournament.

"I am hoping we are just as successful this year," said Courtemanche. "We had no idea what kind of response we would get from the community, and it was terrific. We had well over 100 golfers and a lot of local sponsors."

The mayor will be on the links again for the event, although he says his golfing game isn't up to par.

"I'll be out there trying my best," said Courtemanche. "I haven't been out since last summer. I don't know if I'll have a chance to get out and swing the
clubs before the tournament."

The tournament takes place Tuesday, June 21 at the Timberwolf Golf Club. The format features four-person best ball. Cost is $1,000 per team of four,
which includes cart and gift.

People can register on-line at mayorsmulligan.com or by calling 560-3330.
