Sudbury Wolves forward Michael Sgarbossa has been named to Team OHL and will play in the Canada/Russia Subway Super Series in Sault Ste. Marie Nov. 14.

Sgarbossa, 19, will utilize this invitation to play for Team OHL against Team Russia as another opportunity to showcase his talent on the international stage, as well as a springboard to the final tryouts for Team Canada in December.

Last year, Wolves' captain Marcus Foligno was invited to play for in the series and the Sudburian's performance earned him an invitation to the Team Canada tryouts and ultimately a spot on Team Canada's silver medal team.

"I am very pleased to have Michael represent the Sudbury Wolves on Team OHL," Wolves' head coach Trent Cull said. "We know Michael will bring great skill, leadership and his competitive drive that is on display with us every game. Our players and staff are behind Michael 100 per cent in his quest to represent us, his league and his country."

Sgarbossa leads the Sudbury Wolves in scoring this season with 13 points in 11 games and also has two power play goals and two shoot-out game winning goals. Last year, Sgarbossa scored 29 goals in 37 games with the Wolves after being acquired in a trade with the Saginaw Spirit last  December.

The San Jose Sharks prospect has taken on a larger leadership role with the Wolves this season and provides excellent leadership to younger Wolves' players, the release stated.
