The Nickel Centre Minor Hockey Association has cancelled all games for the U7, U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups this weekend.

The association's board of directors held an emergency meeting in the wake of a positive COVID-19 test at Northeastern Elementary School.

"Although the person in question is not a member of our association, some kids that are have been asked to self-isolate," said a notice issued by the NCMHA. "This contact with members of our association affects many age groups that we are aware of."

There has been no known exposure to COVID-19 in the NCMHA U18 group at this time and their Sunday evening ice times will go ahead as scheduled.

The city of Greater Sudbury has asked NCMHA to provide information on how many kids were asked to self-isolate, when they were exposed to the positive case and when they were last at the arenas.

If your child was asked to self-isolate due to the positive case at Northeastern Elementary, you are asked to contact [email protected].

"Your child's name will not be shared without your prior consent and that consent will only be requested from you if the city requests it of us," said NCMHA.

"We apologize to those of you who may be unhappy with this decision and wish you all a safe and enjoyable weekend."
