Members of the Greater Sudbury Ski Club recently finished second overall at the Boreal Cup and NOD race in Timmins.
Hats off to the Team Horgan Rink from the Idylwylde Curling Club for their fourth place finish at the Karcher Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Fredericton, N.B.

Jennifer Horgan, Tracy Horgan, Amanda Gates and Stephanie Barbeau finished with a 7-5 record, and showed the rest of the world they can curl with the best in Canada.

Wrestling fans are in for a real treat this Friday as MacDonald Cartier High School will host the Northern Ontario Secondary School's Athletics (NOSSA) Championships.

Two kids to watch out for are Chelmsford's Alyssa Unwin, who is the reigning 48-kilogram city champion and female Sudbury wrestling MVP, and Lockerby's Jason Cecchini, who's the reigning 95-kg city champion and male Sudbury wrestling MVP.

Even though they don't have a ski hill to practice on, the Greater Sudbury Ski Club is making noise at events around the province.

Recently, at the Boreal Cup and NOD race in Timmins, five skiers won medals.

Katie Bissonette won gold in the women's J-1 slalom race, and silver in the giant slalom. Corey Bouffard won gold in the women's J-1 giant slalom.

On the men's side, Jason Rinneard and Jonathan Robinson won silver and bronze respectfully, in the men's J-1 giant slalom.

Finally, Jordan Thompson won a bronze in the men's K-2 giant slalom.

With another compelling victory over Georgian College this past weekend, the Cambrian College women's volleyball team finished the regular season with a perfect 13-0 record.

The team finishes as the top team in the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA) standings with 26 points.

The women will now prepare for the OCAA Championships, to be held in North Bay from Feb. 24-26 at Nipissing University.

Sudbury Track North runner Lisa Labrecque has been selected to represent Canada at the World Cross-Country Running Championships in Saint Galmier, France in March.

Labrecque will compete in the four-kilometre team race.

Labrecque earned her spot on the team by placing fifth at the Canadian Cross-Country Running Championships back in December 2004.
