Krista McCarville and her Northern Ontario rink out of the Fort William Curling Club in Thunder Bay had a strong day at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Feb. 23.

The rink that is skipped by McCarville also includes Sudbury native Kendra Lilly who throws third stones for the rink that is rounded out by Sarah Potts at lead and Ashley Sippala at second.

The girls are hitting their form as the tournament nears the end of the round robin, and they are starting to show why they made an unexpected run to the finals a year ago.

McCarville and co. got a measure of revenge to start their day six matches as they laid an 8-4 beating on Chelsey Carey's team Canada rink out of the Glencoe Club in Calgary. Carey knocked off McCarville in last year's Scotties final.

The Northern Ontario ladies went on to win a tightly contested 6-4 game against Mary Mattatall's Nova Scotia rink, thanks to scoring two in the 10th and final end.

Team Northern Ontario moved their record to 7-3 and sit fourth in the standings with one game to play.

The ladies will be back on the ice early Friday morning for a 9:30 a.m. draw against Kerry Galusha's Northwest Territories rink.

McCarville and team Northern Ontario can secure a spot in the 3v4 page playoff with a win Friday morning.
