Northern rivals pay Wolves a visit this weekend

The Sudbury Wolves will host both of their northern rivals this weekend at the Sudbury Arena. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds make a stop here Friday night at 7:05 p.m. for game four of the Bell Challenge Cup.

Then on Sunday afternoon, the Wolves look for revenge as they welcome the North Bay Battalion at 2 p.m.

Before welcoming the northern rivalries to the Elgin Street barn for the weekend, the Pack hit the road to pay a visit to the Central Division leading Barrie Colts at the Barrie Molson Centre on Thursday night as they look to even in the season series. 

Wolves first round selection Blake Murray makes his return to the Wolves lineup from the U17 tournament in BC. Thursday's puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, the high-flying Soo Greyhounds, who are ranked sixth in the CHL Top Ten with a record of 15-3-2, return for the final regular appearance in Sudbury between the two teams. 

The Soo roster features seven NHL Prospects including Philadelphia Flyers 2017 first round selection Morgan Frost. The Wolves have played the Greyhounds hard this season and have been in every game clinching one regulation win and falling in overtime twice to the Hounds.

Friday’s game is sponsored by The Home Depot who will be on hand with lots of prizes and giveaways for fans. Fans are encouraged to visit the Ryobi and The Home Depot Foundations displays in the lower lobby. 

Don’t miss the Ryobi Leaf Blower Challenge in the first intermission where one lucky fan will win a two-piece drill kit.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., the Wolves turn their attention to the North Bay Battalion, who are currently two points behind the Wolves in the Eastern Conference standings with two games in hand. 

The Battalion are led up front by right winger Justin Brazeau and Arizona Coyotes defensive prospect Cam Dineen.

Sunday’s game is sponsored by Glencore. The Sudbury Wolves welcome Glencore and their families for the afternoon matinee. Glencore has teamed up with the Sudbury Food Bank who will be out front of the arena collecting donations prior to the game.
