The St. Charles College Cardinals opened the second half of the 2016-2017 SDSSAA Boys Hockey schedule in much the same fashion that they cruised through the first few months of the year - on a winning note.
Nick Chokan scored three times and added a pair of assists, leading the Cards to a 9-4 win over the Lockerby Vikings. Tyler Michaud joined Chokan in the "hat trick club", finding the back of the net on three occasions as well, with Tayler Bedard, Bryceton Lalonde and Matthew Belanger rounding out the attack.
Jack Wisniewski countered with a two-goal performance for the Vikes, with Ramsey Dupuis-Gauthier and Liam Fraser chipping in once each. The second contest of the night, as Division "B" battle, proved to be far more evenly contested, as the Carmichael Arena played host to its traditional Monday night high-school double-header.
Louis Mullin-Belanger drilled home his second goal of the game with 2:53 remaining, allowing the Lo-Ellen Park Knights to escape with a 2-2 tie against the St. Benedict Bears.
Eric Roussel and Ben Bostrum scored for the Bears, who outshot the Knights 30-21 but could only solve Lo-Ellen puckstopper Mitchell Cleaver on two occasions. Andrew Rocha recorded 19 saves between the pipes for St. Benedict.
Remaining action this week features the Chelmsford Flyers (1-8-0) paying a visit to Walden to face the Lively Hawks (2-6-1) on Wednesday, while Thursday matchups include an all Valley East showdown - Confederation Chargers (6-3-0) vs Horizon Aigles (3-4-2) - while Lockerby (5-4-1) and Collège Notre-Dame (8-1-0) go toe to toe at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.
