Making their second tournament appearance of the season, the Sudbury Peewee Rockhounds opted to challenge themselves with a test against Ontario Lacrosse Association B/C level competition, taking part in the Boyd Balkwill Memorial Tournament in Orillia last weekend.

The locals more than held their own in round-robin play, breaking the ice with a 3-2 win over the Oshawa Blue Knights as Sebastien Chartrand netted a pair of goals, including one with his team short-handed.

Max McCue rounded out the scoring for the Rockhounds. The Sudbury crew kept their unblemished record intact in Game 2, tripling the St. Catharines Athletics 6-2 as McCue and Cameron Walker scored two goals apiece.

Parker Farstad and Max Dumais added one goal apiece, as coach Ben Douillette and company advanced safely through to the semifinals. Unfortunately, they would meet their demise in the form of the Welland Raiders, who handed the Rockhounds their only loss by a final count of 7-2.

Chartrand and McCue pulled the trigger for the northern squad, who resume tournament action on home turf next month, taking part in the Nickel City Shootout from July 4-6.
