Polar Barons bring the heat in Ottawa

After picking up a little hardware at the SMHA RBC Fun Day Tournament earlier this month, the Sudbury Novice Polar Barons took their show on the road Jan. 18-20.
After picking up a little hardware at the SMHA RBC Fun Day Tournament earlier this month, the Sudbury Novice Polar Barons took their show on the road Jan. 18-20.

After posting a 2-1 record in round-robin play, the Barons met the Ottawa Senators (#2) in a tiered-final, recording a 4-3 win in overtime. The locals kicked off tournament action with a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators (#1) and followed that up with a 4-0 win over the Oakville Hawks, with goaltender Mathieu Tilson registering the shutout.

The Polar Barons tasted defeat for the one and only time, blanked 4-0 by the host Cooksville Phantoms, setting the stage for their dramatic final victory.

The 2012-13 team roster includes Matthew Tilson, Adam Richer, Josh McKay, Cohen Chevrette, Logan Giroux, Zacharie Brunette, Seth Marlok, Aidan Carlson, Jaxon Douglas, Richie Daley, Quinton McCauley, Connor Frayne and Liam Love.

The team staff features head coach Shawn Carlson, assistant coach Terry McCauley, goalie coach Russ Tilson, trainer Marc Brunette and team manager Mark Frayne.
