After blowing out their first opponent, the Copper Cliff Minor Atom AA Redmen settled in with games that were more of a push.

But that didn't stop them from advancing to the finals, capturing the hardware at the Glenn Bellerby AA Tournament in Barrie Jan. 4-6.

The Redmen walloped the Windsor Junior Spitfires 14-2 out of the gate as Cameron Walker scored four times to lead the way. Oliver Smith, Ben Doucette, Sean Jansen and Mitchell Martin chipped in with two goals apiece, with Eric Dissanayake and Max McCue rounding out the attack.

The Copper Cliff crew followed it up with a 3-0 win over the Guelph Jr. Storm as Martin added another two goals to his weekend total, with Doucette tallying once.

An almost duplicate effort closed out the round robin as the Northern lads stopped the Barrie Minor Atom AA Colts 3-1 as Walker, with two, and Doucette accounted for the offence.

The wide-open hockey was kicked back into high gear for the semifinal contest as the Redmen bounced the West Hill Golden Hawks 7-1, with Walker getting untracked with his second four-goal effort in four games.

McCue chipped in with a pair and Jansen rounded it off as Copper Cliff secured their spot in the championship encounter. Mixing an equal balance of opportunistic scoring with a shutdown defensive effort, the Redmen blanked a familiar foe, besting the Nickel City Minor Atom AA Tigers 4-0.

Martin, McCue, Dissanayake and Smith all found their way on to the scoresheet for the winners.

The 2012-13 edition of the Copper Cliff Minor Atom AA Redmen includes Stephen Irvine, Joshua Stagg, Henry Mongeon, Mitchell Martin, Sean Jansen, Max McCue, Marco Vigna, Jimmy Blanchard, Eric Dissanayake, Cameron Walker, Oliver Smith, Tomas Asselin, Tyson Belland, Billy McIntyre, Jack Rain and Ben Doucette.

Head coach Danny Rain is accompanied on the bench by assistants Brian Belland and Dean Blanchard and trainer Jerry Doucette while Andrew Irvine tackles the challenging role of team manager.
