The Sudbury Wolves took a bite out of the competition this past Friday (Nov. 16) at North Bay's Memorial Gardens, earning themselves a 7-1 victory over the Battalion.

A number of Wolves players had a multi-point game, including Blake Murray, Nolan Hutcheson and David Levin, who each had three points and were named as first, second and third stars of the evening.

Final shots show a group effort by the team, with 42-21 recorded in favour of the Wolves.

A heavy shot from the slot past Battalion Christian Purboo got the ball rolling for the Wolves and scored Shane Bulitka his fourth goal of the season. This momentum carried throughout the first period as an assist by Levin and Robinson led Blake Murray to hit the open net top shelf on the power play, securing the pack's 2-0 lead over North Bay.

Leading the Wolves in scoring so far this season, Levin extended the pack's lead with a goal shot off the post before Battalion newcomer Mason Primeau put North Bay on the board.

The Battalion put on the pressure in the second period, eager to cut the Wolves 3-1 lead. A slow start by the Wolves allowed Drew Wawrow to knock in his own rebound but the goal was reviewed and deemed no goal.

Hutcheson regained the Wolves momentum when late in their power play, he beat Purboo blocker slide with a quick snapshot.

By the third period the Pack was out for blood, firing off goals left, right and centre. In the final frame Hutcheson landed his second goal, while Murray polished off two beautiful goals to complete his hat-trick. Wolves goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukonen played an exceptional game, recording 20 saves.

The Wolves will look to wrap up the weekend on the road against Central Division rivals, the Mississauga Steelheads, today at 2 p.m. Fans can follow the Wolves on the road by tuning into the live play-by-play on CKLU 96.7 or by streaming it live on mixlr.com/sudburywolves.
