The Sudbury Peewee "BB" Lady Wolves certainly enjoy a flair for the dramatic.

For the second time this season, the local girls captured a tournament championship banner in a shootout. Thankfully, the coaching staff did not need to endure the 24 player saga that it took to lay claim to a Snowflake Challenge trophy back in December.

Taking part in the Durham West Tournament earlier this month, the Lady Wolves needed less than half that time to ensure that they would return north with gold medals in hand. The trek the team travelled to get to that point was certainly not an easy one.

By their own account, the Sudbury squad were a little slow to get going, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Nepean Wildcats. Battling from behind, the Lady Wolves closed out day one with a 2-2 tie with the Peterborough Ice Kats, with Madison Hollohan twice converting passes from Katelynn Jacques.

Six different scorers would hit the score sheet as the northern crew registered their first win of the weekend, blasting the Kingston Ice Wolves 6-1. Ayla Lagace, C.J. Pardy, Danika Gray, Lauren Pineau and Summer Bisaillon joined Jacques in the offensive parade, with Sutton Morin, Hannah Gerrior and McKenna Penrose also chipping in with assists.

The winning ways continued for the team in game four as the Lady Wolves received goals from Erika McNeill and Ayla Lagace and a shutout performance from Emily Dambremont, between the pipes, securing a 2-0 victory over the Scarborough Sharks.

Finishing second in their pool, the girls advanced to the championship encounter, a rematch with Nepean awaiting them. The Wildcats struck early, only to see the Sudbury reps even the mark midway through the third, with Jacques finishing off a three-way play with help from McNeill and Hollohan.

The teams remained deadlocked at 1-1 throughout the overtime session, giving way to yet another tournament decided on penalty shots. Thankfully, Lauren Pineau, shooting fifth for the Lady Wolves, managed to slip one past the Nepean netminder for the win.

Rounding out the 2017-2018 roster for the Peewee "BB" Lady Wolves are Amelia Bois, Kendra Shanks, Taylor Salem, Mackenzie Purvis and Stevie Levesque. The team is coached by Brent Salem.
