So far at least, silver is the colour of the season for the Sudbury 14U Jam Boys.

Following up on a second place finish at their first tournament of the year, back in November in Mississauga (Ontario Fall Shootout), the local crew replicated the performance at the MUMBA Tournament just last month in Markham.

Far more wins than losses on their slate, as the Jam battled their way to a 3-0 mark in the preliminary round, chalking up victories over New Horizon from Markham (45-30), the Burlington Force (47-45) and the South Toronto Golden Eagles (36-28).

The highlight of the weekend for the local lads would come in a semi-final rematch with the Force. Deadlocked in a tied game with 6.1 seconds showing on the clock, the Jam executed a sideline out of bounds play to perfection, earning a berth in the championship affair with their second straight close win over Burlington.

Battling hard in the final, the northern crew clawed their way back with a valiant come-from-behind effort that fell just short as the MUMBA Markham Elite White outscored the Jam 48-43.

"The tournament was a full team effort, with great improvement shown on both sides of the ball," noted Sudbury head coach Greg Sandblom.

"On the defensive side, we allowed only 37 points per game, the lowest among all teams in the tournament."

Carrying out the coach's strategy on the court are Daniel Barber, Jacob Clarke, Matt Crittenden, Ashton Eadie, Dominic Gionet, Evan Green, Abdallah Koulbou, Chase Laframboise, Cole Lamond, Jake Sandblom and Sebastien Smith.
